Only a 10 minutes walk away from the main campus, the Faculty VI is located in the former French military hospital. The faculty, originally also located on the campus, grew over the years, so that it was necessary to find larger premises. In 1993 the faculty moved to its “new home”.
The university is currently renovating the whole building. Nevertheless lectures, seminars and research are continuing.

The Faculty of Geography and Geosciences is one of the largest university centres in Germany for education and research in human and physical geography and geosciences. The faculty roughly has 1500 students and a scientific staff of about 120.
